Parent On Duty Fall
Purpose
• Safety of rowers and boathouse
– Provides supervision of athletes training on land during practice l – Provides supervision of boathouse when coaches are on the water – Provides an extra adult in the event of emergency
• Relief for coach
– Relieves coaches of extra burden to stay for late pick-ups
Expectations
• Be first to arrive, about 15 minutes before practice (target to arrive by about 5pm, or as close to 5pm as possible)
• Identify yourself to a coach as the Parent on Duty. In advance, text Alanna McCloy so your cell number is shared with the coaching staff
• Stay in or near the boathouse with any athletes who are not on the water • Even if all athletes are on the water, please stay in or near the boathouse—on the waterfront side of the property—not in your car
• Monitor the girls’ safety: You’re providing an extra pair of eyes; use common sense, and be aware of non-Mount people
• Be the last MOUNT person to leave the parking lot: Ensure that all MOUNT athletes have left the boathouse and parking lot; this allows the coaches to leave on time
• If you are the last person at all to leave the property, please pull the gate closed and use the chain & lock provided to secure the gate; many times there will be other teams still on-site when all MOUNT athletes have left, but not always
Scheduling
• Any changing/swapping needs to be negotiated on your own
